چکیده

Timed continuous Petri net (contPN) systems with infinite server semantics are non-linear systems, particularly a subclass of piecewise linear (PWL) systems. This paper addresses several problems regarding the state observability of these systems. We assume that the initial marking/state is not known and measuring the marking of some places we want to estimate all the others. First, a study of the different linear systems corresponding to a continuous Petri net system is performed. It is shown that in some cases, some of them are redundant, and so can be disregarded. The notion of distinguishable modes is introduced helping to give a necessary and sufficient criterion for the observability in infinitesimal time. Structural observability, i.e., observability for all possible values of firing rates of transitions, is studied and it is proved that in some cases it can be reduced to a linear problem, even if the system is nonlinear. Using results from linear structured systems, the concept of weak structural or generic observability is considered. To be published as: C. Mahulea, L. Recalde, and M. SimHPN: A MATLAB toolbox for simulation, analysis and design with hybrid Petri nets

This paper presents a MATLAB embedded package for hybrid Petri nets called SimHPN. It offers a collection of tools devoted to simulation, analysis and synthesis of dynamical systems modeled by hybrid Petri nets. The package supports several server semantics for the firing of both, discrete and continuous, types of transitions. Besides providing different simulation options, SimHPN offers the po...

Basic Server Semantics and Performance Monotonicity of Continuous Petri Nets

Continuous Petri nets were introduced as an approximation to deal with the state explosion problem which can appear in discrete event models. When time is introduced, the flow through a fluidified transition can be defined in many ways. The most used in literature are constant and variable speed [8], which can be seen as some kind of finite and infinite server interpretations of the transitions...

Timing and liveness in continuous Petri nets

Fluidification constitutes a relaxation technique for studying discrete event systems through fluidified approximated models, thus avoiding the state explosion problem. Moreover, the class of continuous models thus obtained may be interesting in itself. In Petri nets, fluidification leads to the so called continuous Petri nets, that are technically hybrid models. Under infinite server semantics...

Continuous Petri Nets: Expressive Power and Decidability Issues

State explosion is a fundamental problem in the analysis and synthesis of discrete event systems. Continuous Petri nets can be seen as a relaxation of discrete models. The expected gains are twofold: improvements in comlexity and in decidability. This paper concentrates on the study of decidability issues. In the case of autonomous nets it is proved that properties like reachability, liveness o...
